( ... what an interesting language)

Hungarians call their language magyar. Although Hungary is located in Central Europe, Hungarian is not related to any of the languages that surround the country. The first document in Hungarian goes back to the 12th century. Let's learn some Hungarian ( or magyar ):

... Easy, have a drink and greet us saying:

EGÉSZSÉGEDRE !

(that meens for us: I wish you the very best I can - I drink for your health!)

... - or take a simple word, for example:

e l t ö r e d e z e t t s é g m e n t e s í t ő t l e n í t t e t h e t e t l e n s é g t e l e n í t ő t l e n k e d h e t n é t e k

( that literally meens: You can do it to be able to do it defragmented, or simple: defragmentation.)

We are sharp-witted

It would most probably give Sherlock Holmes a serious headache. Due to the peculiarities of the Hungarian language, our speech can also contains a lot of pictorial representations and our word order is also free. So, we can describe the same situation or story with hundreds of word combinations.
Since there is strong visualization in our language, we do not only use the left hemisphere of the brain responsible for speech, but the right side as well since it is responsible for imagination.
Thus, the Hungarian way of thinking involves both hemispheres. Others say we approach everything in a very strange way.

This is a unique language. Where did it come from? From the stars?

yoda What if Yoda is a Hungarian who never learned the correct english word order?

Sokat kell még tanulnod. - Much have still you to learn.
Ki korán kel, aranyat lel. - Who early gets up, gold he finds.
A követ követ követ. - The envoy a stone is following.

All we know is, that has nothing in common with the latin based or other languages. Some famous people tried to explain:

“The structure of the Hungarian language is such that it appears that linguists could have created it with the purpose of incorporating in it every rule, conciseness, melody and clarity and besides all this it avoided any commonness, difficulty in pronunciation and irregularities.”-- N. Erbersberg; Viennese scientist

"The Magyar language stands afar off and alone. The study of other tongues will be found of exceedingly little use towards its right understanding. It is moulded in a form essentially its own, and its construction and composition may be safely referred to an epoch when most of the living tongues of Europe either had no existence, or no influence on the Hungarian region." -- Poetry of the Magyars, by Sir John Bowring, 1830. Preface 6.

"After studying the Hungarian language for years, I can confidently conclude that had Hungarian been my mother tongue, my work it would have been more precious. Simply because through this extraordinary, ancient and powerful language it is possible to precisely describe the tiniest differences and the most secretive tremors of emotions." -- Sir Bernard Shaw
